Review: BLACK MIRROR: BANDERSNATCH (2018)

Netflix, now you’ve gone and done it.

The latest outing for the Netflix original, Black Mirror, has come in the form of an interactive movie.  “What does that mean?”, you may ask.  Well, the entire film is set up like a “choose your own adventure” story, as the plot centers around a game programmer in the mid-80’s who is making a new game based on one of those books.  This is such a unique and ambitious project.  Allowing the watcher the opportunity to dictate their viewing experience is something we’ve only dreamed of, but somehow Netflix and the people from Black Mirror were able to pull it off.

Movie Review: LONDON FIELDS (2018)

Every once in a while, you come across a film that you know little, to nothing about, but it’s premise is so intriguing that you just have to check it out.  London Fields was that film for me.  Prior to four months ago, I had never even heard of this film, but after seeing the trailer and reading the synopsis, I knew it was something that I’d have to experience for myself.  And no matter what the critics say, and that includes myself, this is advice everyone should follow, as the subjectivity of film is what makes it such a beautiful experience.

London Fields tells the story of a clairvoyant, femme fatale named Nicola Six who has been living with a dark premonition of her impending death. She begins a tangled love affair with three uniquely different men: one of whom she knows will be her murderer.

Rear Window...Wow, what a truly suspenseful, thrilling, and just flat out terrifically entertaining motion picture. The master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, is on full form here, keeping us on our toes throughout the film, always second guessing what route the story is heading. By focusing the camera primarily on the courtyard of the apartment, we, the audiences, are always on edge, always waiting for something to happen.

TV Review: SHERLOCK - Season 4

Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson are back for another season of this amazing series that has updated one of the greatest pop culture icons with a modern, present day take that has left fans of this character, like me, overwhelmed with glee thanks to an intelligent style that has managed to make the best out of the two worlds and bring life to a new world full of mischief and mystery.

Movie Review: THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

Rachel (Emily Blunt) is a divorcée, an alcoholic, and a depressed woman who is struggling to keep in touch with life. She takes the train for the city every day and comes back in the evenings with the same train. She always sits in the same place and in order to have the best view on Megan (Haley Bennett), a girl who lives in a house Rachel passes by every day and over whom she is unhealthily obsessed.

I will stop there because I would consider anything more than that a spoiler for the film and if you have yet to read or watch anything about this film I would recommend to anyone to do as I did and go in completely blind because I had a blast with this mystery film.
