EDITORIAL: Has Video Piracy KO’d Yuri Boyka & The 'Undisputed' Franchise?

The Undisputed franchise began in in 2002, however British martial arts actor Scott Adkins didn’t join the franchise until Undisputed II: Last Man Standing, which was released in 2006, when he took on the role of the antagonist, Yuri Boyka to Michael Jai White’s protagonist, George Chambers (taking over the role formerly played by Ving Rhames).

CBS Films/Lionsgate Releases New Character Posters for AMERICAN ASSASSIN
The promotional aspects of marketing a new movie always fascinates me. I love seeing what they come up with and how the studios/publicity companies work to make their projects stand out in a crowded market. When new movies are being promoted by the studios that made them, there is always a visual push to get their movie noticed by the audience and effectively entice them to go see the movie. Along with teaser trailers, one of the other visual aspects of advance publicity for a new film is posters. Be they the standard movie posters that have been used for years or, as in recent times, posters that individually highlight various lead characters in the movie.

EDITORIAL: Hollywood’s Other Glass Ceiling
There has been a lot of discussion in social media and news stories concerning the inequality in pay between men and women. It’s part of what’s known as the 'glass ceiling’. The issue has been affecting actresses in the entertainment industry at all levels for years.
In an August 2016 article in the Washington Post, the author stated that the top ten highest paid actresses in Hollywood still made less than half of what the top actors earned. While this is a hot topic of discussion that gets media and audience attention, there is another ‘Glass Ceiling’ in Hollywood movie making that rarely gets any kind of attention. Just like the one that does get attention, this other ‘Glass Ceiling’ has been created and controlled by money.

Trailer Review: SAVAGE DOG
Savage Dog is one of several new action movies coming out in 2017 starring martial arts
actor, Scott Adkins. The first trailer for the movie has been released this month by the studio and via tweet by Adkins himself.
On the IMDB page
for Savage Dog, which has been in post-post production after being filmed in
2016, there is very little right now in the way of description of the movie. Basically, all it states is that Savage Dog is
a story set in Indochina in
1959, a land beyond rule and a time without mercy, and the birth of a legend. I’m
not sure if that means that the story, written and directed by Jesse V. Johnson,
is based on a true story or not. Hopefully more information will become
available as the movie draws closer to being released.

EDITORIAL: The Future of James Bond
First, let me start this off by getting something out of the way. I am not one of those James Bond movie watchers who thinks that Sean Connery is the epitome/end all, be all of the character of James Bond. He’s okay in the role, but to me he is not the best. I read all the James Bond books long before I saw any of the movies. In my head, I had a visualization of the character, his mannerisms and the sound of his voice. Connery did not match at all. In fact none of the actors matched until they hired Timothy Dalton to take on the iconic role of superspy, James Bond.
