Side By Side: A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS vs. DADDY’S HOME 2

Welcome to another installment of SIDE BY SIDE, where we dissect the differences and similarities between two films, be it a remake/reboot with its original, a sequel with its original, or two similar movies. This week we will be comparing two 2017 holiday sequels, A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS and DADDY'S HOME 2.  Enjoy!

Last November was the season for Christmas-themed comedy sequels as both Bad Moms and Daddy’s Home managed to garner follow ups in a similar vein to one another.  Tell me what movie I’m describing:  Our main characters are getting ready for a joyous Christmas with their families, when – surprise, surprise – their parents decide to show up and throw everything into an upheaval.

Movie Review: TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT

Or as it should be called: "Transformers: The Latest Mess"

I was lucky enough to get the chance to go to an early screening a couple months back. None of us knew what movie we were going to see and give our feedback on, but everyone was excited for the possibilities. Given the time frame most of us believed it couldn’t be Spider-Man: Homecoming because that was to be released very soon. Plus, the questionnaire didn’t match that movie. Based on the questionnaire some of us were thinking it had to be Thor: Ragnarok.  Me, being the DC guy that I am, had extremely high hopes it was going to be Justice League. But the ongoing joke in line was “anything but the new Transformers movie”.

Movie Review: PATRIOTS DAY

Patriots Day is the second film in 2016 by director Peter Berg and, as with his other 2016 feature, this film stars Mark Wahlberg. In addition to Wahlberg this film has a cavalcade of great performers including John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Kevin Bacon, Alex Wolff, Themo Melikidze, Jake Picking, Michael Beach, Rachel Brosnahan, Christopher O’Shea, Mellissa Benoist, Michelle Monaghan, and Jimmy O. Yang. This film depicts the events of the Boston Marathon Bombing from April, 2013 including events just before the bombing, during the bombing, and the manhunt to catch the two bombers after the bombing.

Howdy fellow film freaks, Robert here. The first trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth outing of Michael Bay's ongoing take on everyone's favorite Robots in Disguise, has dropped, and I'm sure I speak for the minority when I say, "Yes, please." Check it out below.

Movie Review: DEEPWATER HORIZON

Deepwater Horizon is a new film by director Peter Berg starring Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, and Gina Rodriguez, amongst others. This film dramatizes the events that occurred on the ultra-deepwater semi-submersible offshore oil drilling rig Deepwater Horizon in late April of 2010 when a build-up of pressure inside the pipes caused a blowout, a massive explosion, and (over time) the worst man-made environmental disaster in U.S. history. This film is highly effective at engaging the audience and having something to say about the situation specifically on the rig. Laser focused, Berg delivers a really successful product early in this fall movie season.

Ted 2 - Review

The foul-mouthed, talking teddy bear is back!  Ted and John return in Seth MacFarlane's follow-up to his 2012 comedy, Ted, and they definitely bring the laughs.  I loved the first film, and even though this one lack some of the heart and charm of its predecessor, it still managed to keep me laughing through out.
