Movie Review: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (Non-Spoiler Review)

Ten years ago, Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. started something that no one could've foreseen becoming what it is today.  Iron Man began a decade-long journey with characters from all over the globe and beyond, which has taken us to places no comic book fan ever thought they'd see on the big screen, and some that just shouldn't have been possible.  But they were.  We saw characters like Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, and the aforementioned Iron Man, most of which were characters that the average person on the street had never heard of, and yet, within four years, they would grow to super stardom as Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige managed to bring them all together for the what many people considered the cinematic event of the decade...The Avengers.

Movie Review: BLACK PANTHER

Culturally significant films come along every so often, and these tend to be the types of films that keep people talking long after their release.  But it’s rare to find such a film within the superhero genre, yet Marvel Studios has managed to do just that with the latest addition to their decade-long running cinematic universe, Black Panther.  This is a film that not only speaks to people of color, but to film lovers alike.

Movie Review: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

The wait is over! Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Homecoming is finally here!

Audiences weary of another Spiderman origin movie can rest at ease with Homecoming.  From the very beginning of the film Peter Parker is already Spider-Man so audiences are able to get right into another chapter of Spidey’s life.

Movie Review: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (Review #2)

You know, to me personally, I think the first Guardians of the Galaxy is a bit over-rated. Heck, I even read a comment where someone said that the Guardians are better than the Avengers. I mean the characters not the movie, but those same people who think that may put the movie higher than Avengers. Why? I'll never know. But I'll respect it because they are cool characters.

EDITORIAL: Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Over-creating

“There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo’s life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film. But you will also discover how he got his name.”
—Bob Iger, Disney CEO on the new Han Solo Movie

There are questions you'd probably rather never know the answers to. Since Disney’s 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm, we have seen a push for new films, toys, games, and other sellable items (hello Star Wars CoffeeMate Coffee Creamer). At first, admittedly, I was incredibly excited. A chance for new Star Wars movies? Perhaps an Indiana Jones movie if we are lucky? New video games and clothes? Even a Star Wars Universe at Disney World?! Hell yes. However, with this new parent company looking to make a return on their $4 billion investment, we are seeing some things that I think could taint the Star Wars universe, just like what has happened with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Movie Review: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

A couple of months after the events of Vol 1. the Guardians of the Galaxy have been hired by an alien population to defend their world. Despite a successful job, a disagreement between the Aliens and the Guardians puts the team in danger. That is when Ego (Kurt Russel) comes to rescue them and reveals himself as a celestial being and Peter Quill's father.

Despite having every reason and possibility to fail and become a complete spectacle mess, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. is another gem in Marvel's crown of wonderfully diverse films and another reason for their utter mastery in the genre.
