Short Film Spotlight: THE PUNISHER: DIRTY LAUNDRY

Welcome back to another installment of SHORT FILM SPOTLIGHT.  This week, in honor of Daredevil giving us an amazing portrayal of Frank Castle/The Punisher, we take a look at the epic comic book short film...THE PUNISHER: DIRTY LAUNDRY.

The Punisher: Dirty Laundry sees the return of Thomas Jane to the iconic role of ex-FBI agent-turned-vigilante Frank Castle aka The Punisher.  Director Adi Shankar brought the grit and darkness that the 2004 film lacked.  This is the way I had always wanted that Punisher film to be, and it was great seeing Thomas Jane back in the role.  We also saw a great cameo by the very talented Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons Of Anarchy), which was a great surprise that I had forgotten from the first time I had watched it.

After watching The Punisher's debut in the Netflix series Daredevil, the dark, ultraviolence is definitely the tone needed for this character.  I really enjoyed the slow build of this film, seeing Frank look on as bad things happen, not sure if it's worth getting involved.  But when he finally does, it is epic and violent and amazing.  Also, it's a nice advertisement for the pure strength of a Jack Daniels bottle.

If you love the 2004 movie or the character in general, definitely give this a watch.  You won't regret it.
