The first official trailer for next year's The LEGO Batman Movie has hit the web, and it was great. Check it out:
Right from the start, this trailer had me chuckling. Will Arnett is fantastic as The Dark Knight and he brings his hilariously serious attitude to this trailer. The animation looks great, as expected, and there seems to be plenty of humor to go around.
There were a couple of the things in particular that I really enjoyed about this trailer. The first was the animation, as I said before. I loved The LEGO Movie and have been anxiously awaiting this spinoff. Next was the use of Siri as the Bat Cave computer. That was perfect and I can't wait to see what funny jokes will be involved with that. Another was the microwave scene. I found myself laughing a whole lot more at that scene than I probably should have. It just came off as really funny to me.
We didn't get a look at the rest of the Bat Family or Joker in this trailer, however we did get a full shot of the Justice League, of whom I was unaware would be in this film, so that was a nice surprise.
Here's the synopsis for the film:
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: “The LEGO Batman Movie.” But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
The LEGO Batman Movie sees Will Arnett reprising his role as Batman while being joined by Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Michael Cera as Robin, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and Mariah Carey as Mayor Marion Grange. The film is being directed by Chris McKay.
The LEGO Batman Movie is set to hit theaters on February 10, 2017.
Loved this trailer. I'm excited for it. :)
