TOY STORY 4 Poster & Teaser Trailer Officially Released

It has been nearly a decade since Woody, Buzz, and the gang graced the big screen with a feature film, but next June we will finally get to see the next chapter of this epic saga.

And to get us hyped for the upcoming film, Pixar has released the first official teaser poster and teaser trailer.  Just enough to leave us wanting more.  The teaser also includes an updated synopsis that reveals the film takes the beloved Toy Story characters on a brand-new "road trip adventure".

Retro Review: THE ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN (1985)

Welcome to another installment of RETRO REVIEW, where we take a look at films made before the year 2000. Today we review an animated journey through the work of one of the most famous American authors, from Claymation auteur Will Vinton: THE ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN.

Howdy fellow film freaks, Robert here. For those of us who grew up in the 1980s, The Adventures of Mark Twain will seem like another effort by the mass media to present an icon of the classical arts in a way that is appealing to "the youth of today." And it is that; animation is a time-honored vehicle for making something appealing to children. But unlike similar efforts which insulted their audience's intelligence by trying to make their subjects "relatable" ("Beethoven is like heavy metal music!" "Shakespeare was a rapper!") Mark Twain is faithful to its core source material, namely the man and his works. Most of the dialogue spoken by Twain in the film comes from his writings, and only the occasional liberty is taken (as far as I can tell) with the characters he created.

Trailer Review: THE EMOJI MOVIE

There are so many phenomenal ideas that exist in the world of cinema, complete with fascinating ideas and compelling scripts. However, on July 21, 2015, Sony Pictures decided its top priority was beating Warner Brothers and Paramount in a bidding war over the winky face you send to inform that creepy guy at work that the conversation is over. That bidding war clocked in at multiple millions of dollars.

Movie Review: KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS

Kubo (Art Parkinson), a young, one-eyed boy living in a small village in a fairy-tale-like Asian land, embarks on a journey with Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) to find an ancient sword, helmet and armor in order to defeat his aunts and grandfather who have become cold evil spirits, seeking Kubo's second eye and who Kubo's mother turned against in the past.

Having in the past not thoroughly enjoyed Laika's past efforts like ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls (for story reasons), Kubo and the Two Strings comes in as a definite improvement on them, with a far more touching narrative which adds a brilliant tribute to Asian cinema, even though some of the story problems I had in the past still emerge from this animated beauty.

Movie Review: FINDING DORY

Finding Dory meets our favorite fish characters one year after having found Nemo (Hayden Rolence). Life seems pretty great and ordinary for Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), Nemo and Marlin (Albert Brooks), yet suddenly Dory is amazingly triggered back to her past and starts remembering little bits of her youth, most notably she remembers her parents, and sets out on a journey in search of them with an enthusiastic Nemo and a slightly reluctant Marlin.

Movie Review: ZOOTOPIA

Disney has opened my Pandora's box of bias once more to not only solidify this decade as the golden age of animation, but show even today they can still make some of the best and most relevant films ever.
