12 Days of Movie Reviews: Arthur Christmas

We have officially reached Day 10 of the 12 Days of Movies Reviews.  Today we will be discussing the 2011 animated film...ARTHUR CHRISTMAS.

This was my first time watching this film, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it.  From the story, to the characters, and even the animation style, I had a great time watching this film.  It utilized a nice mixture of classic Christmas tropes and modern technological ideas.

This film follows Arthur, the clumsy youngest son of Santa Claus, as he takes on a mission of utmost importance.  And with the help of his grandfather, Grandsanta, and a present-wrapping elf named Bryony, Arthur is determined to make sure every last child gets their Christmas presents on time.

I really liked the idea that "Santa" is a title, passed down through the generations of this family.  Also, seeing how their operation has changed over the years, from the classic reindeer and sleigh to a technologically advanced command ship was a unique change of pace.

What Makes It Christmasy?

This one is pretty obvious, seeing as the title of the film is Arthur Christmas.  The film is set during Christmas Eve night/Christmas Day morning and follows the Santa Claus family and their elves.

Arthur Christmas turned out to be a splendid little Christmas movie, one that can be enjoyed by the whole family.  So if you're in the mood for a fun animated film this holiday, I recommend checking this one out.

The Merc's Score: 7.5/10
