Welcome to BOX OFFICE BREAKDOWN, where we discuss this weekends box office results. The TOP 3 films for the weekend of July 24-26 were Ant-Man, Pixels, and Minions.
1. ANT-MAN
Marvel Studio's newest film, Ant-Man, managed to stay on top in its second weekend, bringing in another $24.9 million. This brings its domestic total up to $106.2 million and its worldwide total up to $226.6 million. It definitely has its work cut out for it if it wants to catch up to the big dogs of Marvel.
2. PIXELS
The new Adam Sandler comedy, Pixels, opened up this weekend, falling just short of the top spot, bringing in a meager $24 million. However, it did manage to pull another $25.4 from the foreign market for a worldwide total of $49.4 million on an $88 million budget. Hopefully it'll continue to hold strong overseas, so it can make its money back and turn a profit.
3. MINIONS
Minions took another significant drop in its third week, going down 53.5% to bring in another $22.9 million, bringing its domestic total up to $262.5 million and its worldwide total up to $760.3 million. Hopefully it'll get enough repeat viewings to break that billion dollar mark, and with the foreign market enjoying it as much as it is, it most likely will.
Here's a quick rundown of the top 10 films this weekend:
#1 - Ant-Man - $24,909,332
