Trash Bin: PASSENGERS

Welcome to another installment of the TRASH BIN, where we watch the worst movies Hollywood has to offer, according to the critics, and give you our thoughts, good or bad. This week's pick is the 2016 sci-fi film...PASSENGERS.

I realize there was already a Passengers review done earlier, but with it just coming to DVD and Blu-ray this week, me being a newbie, and it being the trash bin: here’s what I have to say.

Movie Review: PASSENGERS

Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) is a mechanic on board of the Avalon spaceship, voyaging in space from Earth to Homestead II in 120 years, carrying 5000 humans looking to colonize a new planet. Everybody is in hibernation when still 90 years away from Homestead II, Jim is mistakenly awakened. Not knowing what caused this malfunction and not being able to put himself back to sleep, Jim has to face his life inside the ship and resist the urge of waking up other passengers, one in particular who he has taken an interest for: Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence).

Movie Review: PASSENGERS

Passengers is a 2016 science-fiction film directed by Morten Tyldum and starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. The lead characters are passengers on a ship destined for a colony world and begin the film in hibernation (to allow them to make the full 120 year trip and live on the other side) but, when something bad happens, the two are woken up and have to solve some problems and save the ship, as well as come to grips with the realization that they are doomed to die onboard the ship. As a general matter, this is a film with a fascinating premise and a beautiful production but falters in its execution.

Welcome to MOVIE TRAILER MAYHEM, where we gather up all the new trailers that dropped this week and give them to you all in one place.

This week we got our first trailer for the highly anticipated Chris Pratt/Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi film, Passengers, which looks great.  We also got a series of short teasers for the live action adaptation of Ghost In The Shell starring Scarlett Johansson.  The film has some great visuals, but the teasers really don't give much substance as to the plot.
