Trailer Review: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has become the hot spot for dropping trailers, and last night we got another one.  The latest trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiered on the late night talk show and it was awesome.

Check it out below:

The trailers for both GOTG films have been really good, with great action, music, and humor...and this one is no different.  We get all of that and so much more.

It starts off with us finally getting the full shot of the creature we see Drax leaping toward in previous trailers.  A giant, Lovecraftian beast with tentacles galore and teeth for days.  We also get some fun, humorous banter between Star-Lord and Gamora about her choice of weapon.  Then the music kicks in.

Music is a big part of these movies.  More so than any other Marvel film to date.  It sets the tone in such a perfectly beautiful way, and in this trailer, it matches that tone and the action precisely.

This trailer focused more on Star-Lord and Rocket, the two most vocal of the bunch, but it didn't leave out anyone, as we got shots of all the cast, including some newbies.  We see Yondu (with his full mohawk from the comics, finally), Nebula (who doesn't seem to want to be there), and the newest member of the cast, Mantis, all of whom seem to be joining the Guardians on their new adventure.

And we get a nice little surprise at the end.  Ego the Living Planet.  That's right, we finally get to see Kurt Russell pop up, as he reveals to Peter the one question that's been burning in his (and our) mind - Who is Peter Quill's father?  And the answer is him, in all his shaggy, bearded glory.

I can't wait for this film to come out.  It is pure sci-fi awesomeness, which I absolutely love, and if it's even close to being as good as the first, it'll probably end up on my Top 10 of 2017.

What did you guys think of the new trailer?  Are you excited for the movie?  Sound off in the comments below!
