Trailer Review: DEADPOOL 2 ('No Good Deed' Teaser)

The biggest news this weekend is the quality and success of the latest film in the X-Men franchise, the (supposed) final appearance for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Logan.  But that's not the only X news. Playing before the screenings of Logan this weekend, was a very special treat for fans.  The very first teaser (titled 'No Good Deed') for the currently untitled Deadpool sequel was screened, and it was great.  Check it out in all of its glory below:

Well this was definitely a pleasant surprise.  As a first piece of marketing for the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel, the 'No Good Deed' teaser was perfect.  It was 3+ minutes of glorious Merc-itude and I couldn't help but watch it multiple times.

We get to see not only Deadpool in full garb, but Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson, walking down the street as he spots trouble.  So what does he do?  He jumps into action, running into a phone booth, all Superman style (complete with Supes' theme music), and proceeds to take a realistic, non-comic book movie amount of time to put on his costume, resulting in the death of the very person he was about to save.  And it wouldn't be Deadpool without a shot of Reynolds' butt.

This long teaser was a great revisit to this character, and even had several great little Easter eggs for those with keen eyes.  While in the phone booth, written in graffiti, are the words "Nathan Summers Cumming Soon!".  For the comic book fans out there, you should recognize this name.  For those of you not as in tune to the source material, Nathan Summers is the real name of the time traveling mutant known as Cable, who will be appearing in this film.  This was confirmed during the after credit scene in Deadpool.

We also see a poster for Logan, a reference to the mountain giant Oggmunder Dragglevadd Vinnsuvius XVII, a character from the Thor comics ("Oggy was here"), a reference to Alley Cat (seen on a trash can), and a great cameo by the one and only Stan Lee!

So, what did you think of this first teaser for the Deadpool sequel?  Who do you think should be cast to play Cable? Did you catch any other Easter eggs?  And are you excited for this film?  Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.

Deadpool 2 is scheduled for a 2018 release.

  1. I finally got around to watching Deadpool. After reading all the hype about it, I expected it to be good. Instead, it was a disappointing and boring.
