12 Days of Movie Reviews: The Santa Clause

On Day 8 of the 12 Days of Movie Reviews, we take a look at the classic family film starring Tim Allen...THE SANTA CLAUSE.

It's been more than 20 years since Tim Allen put on Santa's big, red suit and created the classic holiday film known as The Santa Clause.  This has been a yearly staple for me since I was 10, and will be for my children as well.

The Santa Clause follows self-serving businessman, Scott Calvin, as he takes on the biggest task of his life...becoming Santa Claus.  This accidental undertaking causes Scott to reevaluate his life and the things that are important to him.

This is one of my favorite Christmas movies.  Tim Allen is fantastic in this role.  His wit and humor really keep things entertaining.  I even enjoy the sequels, The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).

What Makes It Christmasy?

Well, this is a pretty obvious one, seeing as it's about a guy who becomes Santa Claus on early Christmas morning, and fulfills his destiny one year later during the next Christmas.

This classic should definitely be shared with the whole family and if you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for.

The Merc's Score: 8/10
