Welcome to WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results. The TOP 3 films for the weekend of April 8-10 were The Boss, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zootopia.
Let's take a look at this week's box office results:
WHAT STANDS OUT?
THE TOP 3:
1. THE BOSS
The brand new, Melissa McCarthy R-rated comedy, The Boss, hit theaters this weekend, and managed to just squeak by the previous #1 spot holder, Batman v Superman. The Boss brought in $23.6 million domestically and $24.7 million worldwide on a $29 million production budget.
2. BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
DC's second installment in their brand new shared cinematic universe, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, took another dip this weekend, dropping 54.5%, just barely putting it in the #2 spot with $23.4 million. This puts the film at a domestic total of $297.6 million and $784.3 million worldwide.
3. ZOOTOPIA
Disney Animation's newest film, Zootopia, managed to hang on to a spot in the Top 3 again during its sixth weekend, dropping only 25.8% to bring in a solid $14.3 million. This puts its domestic total at $296 million and its worldwide total at a very impressive $852.5 million. If it continues on this path, it definitely has a shot at crossing the $1 billion mark.
