WEEKEND ROUNDUP: 'Deadpool' Dominates Another Weekend; NewcomersUnderperform

Welcome to WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results.  The TOP 3 films for the weekend of February 26-28 were Deadpool, Gods Of Egypt, and Kung Fu Panda 3.

Let's take a look at this week's box office results:

WHAT STANDS OUT?

Deadpool took the top spot again this weekend, while all three newcomers underperformed.  Gods Of Egypt did manage to take the #2 spot, but had a very disappointing box office.  The other two films, Triple 9 and Eddie The Eagle, grabbed the #5 and #6 spots respectively, with both bringing in just over $6 million each.

THE TOP 3:

1. DEADPOOL

Fox's hit comic book film, Deadpool, managed to dominate the box office yet again this weekend, dropping only 44.9% to bring in $31.3 million.  This puts its domestic total at $285.3 million and its worldwide total at $609.3 million, making Deadpool not only the #1 X-Men film, but also the #1 R-rated comic book film, and will surely beat out The Matrix Reloaded ($742.1 million) to become the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.

2. GODS OF EGYPT

The new big budget epic, Gods Of Egypt, from writer and director Alex Proyas, hit theaters this weekend to a less than desirable box office gross.  Managing to bring in only $14.1 million on a production budget of $140 million is not quite what the director and the studio hoped for.  Combined with the foreign grosses, the film did manage a worldwide total of $38.1 million, but still has a long road ahead of it if it plans on being profitable.

3. KUNG FU PANDA 3

Kung Fu Panda 3 dropped down this weekend to the #2 spot, bringing in $8.9 million.  This puts its domestic total up to $128.4 million and its worldwide total up to $313.7 million.

#1 - Deadpool - $31,115,195

#2 - Gods Of Egypt - $14,123,903

#3 - Kung Fu Panda 3 - $8,898,439
