WEEKEND ROUNDUP: 'Deadpool' Destroys Records To Claim The Top Spot onValentine's Day weekend; Zoolander 2' Flounders

Welcome to WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results.  The TOP 3 films for the weekend of February 12-14 (Valentine's Day weekend) were DeadpoolKung Fu Panda 3, and How To Be Single.

Let's take a look at this week's box office results:

WHAT STANDS OUT?

The biggest surprise this week is the incredible success of Fox's newest comic book film, Deadpool.  Smashing records and bringing in over $130 million, Deadpool has taken everyone by surprise, and it's no shock that a sequel is already in the works.

The other stand out of the week was Zoolander 2 and the poor earnings it gained.  Coming in at only #4, Zoolander 2 only managed to bring in less than $14 million, which is lower than its predecessor.

THE TOP 3:

1. DEADPOOL

Fox's surprise hit, Deadpool, managed to dominate the box office this weekend, bringing in a whopping $132.8 million.  Combined with foreign grosses, the film has already made $264.9 million, and doesn't have much competition in the coming weeks.

2. KUNG FU PANDA 3

Kung Fu Panda 3 slid down one spot at the box office this weekend, taking the #2 spot with $19.8 million, dropping a mere 6.8%.  This puts its domestic total up to $100.3 million and its worldwide total up to $262.4 million.

3. HOW TO BE SINGLE

The new Rebel Wilson comedy, How To Be Single, hit theaters this Valentine's Day weekend, bringing in a respectable $17.9 million domestically and $26 million worldwide.  With no other comedies opening for a few weeks, this is sure to make back its low $38 million production budget and some.
