Trailer Review: WONDER WOMAN (Trailer #2)

After a week or so of teasing from both Gal Gadot and director, Patty Jenkins, Warner Bros has dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming DC Extended Universe film, WONDER WOMAN! You can watch the new trailer below.

The first thing that really comes across from the trailer for me is Gal Gadot's acting. That was one of the things I was worried about the most, and in this, we get a bit more of Gadot actually delivering lines. While I won't call it Oscar caliber, but I was surprised as to how well of a performance Gadot is giving in this trailer. If anyone looked to be a bit of dead weight in their acting, it was Chris Pine. I'm not too worried about Pine since he seemed to give a good performance in the last trailer, but some of the key lines he had in this one sounded so wooden.

But the main attraction of this trailer is the story content and the action. What this shows is that Patty Jenkins and Warner Bros. are not afraid to leave their own mark on the Wonder Woman origin, with one of the first shots being of a battle seemingly between the forces from the World of Man vs the Amazons, which looks amazing. We also got to see a lot more of Diana in the World of Man, fighting in World War I. Much of it is the same kind of footage that we saw with the first trailer, but much more of it, along with more voiceover to put it into the context of Diana's mission. In terms of the action, we get a lot of Wonder Woman fighting not only soldiers, but also fighting in civilian clothes, all of which looks so dynamic. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot do a great job at giving Wonder Woman a real sense of kinetic movement to her fighting. It also resembles a dance, looking incredibly graceful while wrecking so much shop. I thought this was a great trailer, if maybe a tad similar to the first one we got. It makes me even more excited to check the movie out when it releases next year.

Along with the trailer, three new posters dropped featuring Diana herself.

Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2nd, 2017.
