This movie reminds me of my childhood because of its nostalgic quality. It came out back in 1995, the same year I started high school, and I remember missing my barbie dolls I played with in elementary school. This movie is from the prospective of a young boy, but anyone can relate to it. When I first watched Toy Story, I remember how much I loved the animation. It was, and still is fantastic.
Our story starts with a young boy named Andy who loves toys. What child doesnt? His favorite is Woody the cowboy, voiced by Tom Hanks. But, Andy gets a new toy and Woody feels like he's being replaced. His new toy, Buzz Lightyear, is a ranger from outer space, whose mission is to protect and serve. Buzz Lightyear, voiced by Tim Allen, and Woody rival one another throughout the film, but have to join force to escape the evil clutches of Andy's sadistic neighbor Sid, who likes to take toys apart and put them back together in horrific ways. They finally escape and are reunited with Andy!! All the toys are happy once again. "You've got a friend in me" plays as the movie comes to a close, Robert nding out the film as it also played during the opening credits, and is a perfect choice for this movie.
So, what makes this movie so special? Well, It certainly helps that Tim Allen and Tom Hanks voice two of the main characters. My favorite scene is when Woody gets all the toys together to help with the move. I enjoyed this film because it teaches children teamwork. It's wonderful when you are able to find a film that has a positive message for its audience.
Toy Story is an exceptional film for the family to enjoy together. First of all, there is nothing inappropriate for children in this film, it's completely family friendly. It reminds parents of their childhood and teaches children teamwork, as I said before, and how to treat their friends and family.
There have been two great sequels since the release of this film, with Toy Story 4 being set to come out in 2018. There have also been a few short films, usually based around a holiday like Halloween or Christmas, which have also been entertaining. I have enjoyed all the movies in the Toy Story franchise. If you are looking for a positive movie that you can enjoy with the whole family, then Toy Story is a great choice.
Lisa's Score: 8/10
