So, I don't think it is possible for someone not to be over-the-moon excited for this film. Just look at this cast...Emma Watson, Luke Evans, Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, and many more. What the hell is going on? Put on top of that Bill Condon (Mr. Holmes), a very good director, who, yes, has done some below-average films, but remains a talented bloke and storyteller. Add to all of this the Disney machine which right now seems unable to do any wrong and a story that has reamined timeless for so long, this seems like the forumla for success.
Does the trailer boast that? Personally I have to say that despite the clear lack of content for a 90-second clip, just the few glimpses we were given are delightful. The design just off the bat looks spot on, the musical cues we hear hit the perfect nostalgiac points and remind us why we love this music so much. Emma Watson as Belle is inspiered casting and whilst 10 seconds of screen time is very hard to judge, she brielfy appears as perfect as we all thought for the role. Overall we get a first look at how magical this story can be.
Yet the best part of the trailer is hearing Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Ewan McGregor as Lumiere bicker. This was special. I want a three hour film of these guys going at it, it is just that perfect.
March 2017 seems too far away, I really can't wait for this film. Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.
