Disney and Sony have announced release date changes for some big films including Star Wars - Episode VIII, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and the new reboots of both Spider-Man and Jumanji.
Star Wars - Episode VIII has been moved back, out of its original release date of May 26, 2017 and on to December 15, 2017, just as Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released this past December. This move was prompted by the enormous success that Episode VII has had so far and facilitate rewrites brought about by fan reactions.
With the opening of Episode VIII's original date, Disney has opted to move one of their other big franchise films up. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth in the series, has been moved from July 7, 2017 to May 26, 2017.
Then there's Sony and Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man reboot, which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. This film was originally scheduled for release on July 28, 2017, but has been moved into the July 7, 2017 spot, held previously by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Sony then opted to move back their Jumanji reboot, originally scheduled for December 25, 2016, into the July 28, 2017 spot.
Here are the new dates in order:
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - May 26, 2017
Spider-Man reboot - July 7, 2017
Jumanji reboot - July 28, 2017
Star Wars - Episode VIII - December 15, 2017
